Multiplatinum Australian sensation JET has returned with some solid songs including 'Seventeen' from their 2010 album 'Shaka Rock'. The band is best known for their debut album 'Get Born' with hits like 'Are You Gonna Go My Way'.
Introducing Josh Ritter (SONY BMG Recs)
In Moscow, Idaho Josh Ritter grew up the son of two Neuroscientists. He also studied Neuroscience but later changed to a self-created "American History Through Narrative Folk Music". He was later spotted performing by Glen Hansard of The Frames (AKA the star of the movie 'Once').
Ritter's fantastic songsmithing quickly amassed him a following particularly in Britain. In 2006 he was dubbed one of the "100 Greatest Living Songwriters" by Paste Magazine. He had just released the album "Animal Years" which paid subtle poetic tribute to America. In 2010 Ritter released his 6th album 'So Runs the World Away'.
Genius Behind The Beatles (Apple Recs)
The Beatles as musical legends go are top contenders. Perhaps a longstanding key to their success is that each member played a front role and shared the spotlight in addition to their incredible talent. No one can say too much of unity.
In example, below the this week 70 yrs old Ringo Star (drummer) performs alongside an all star line up (including Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, and Elton John) a hit Beatles song which he sang. 'With A Little Help' is one of few Ringo sang lead on, however, it made its mark.
Introducing Julie Feeney (Mittens/SONY BMG Recs)
Julie Feeney composes fully orchestrated music which has garnered her some serious critical attention in Ireland. Her self-produced first album entitled '13 songs' earner her a Choice Music Prize for 'Album of the Year' (Irish equivalent to the Mercury Awards). The follow up album 'Pages' gained her a nomination for 'Best Irish Female' at 2010 Meteor Ireland Music Awards. 'Pages' entered the Irish Music Charts at no. 26, and no. 2 on the iTunes Irish Alternative Charts. She can also be seen in the movie Riverdance.
'Crossfire' by Brandon Flowers (Island/Def Jam Recs)
The first single from Brandon Flowers' solo project is keeping with the fearless, bold, and beautiful nature of hearty singles already released by The Killers (Island/Def Jam Recs). The music video features Academy Award winner Charlize Theron.
Flowers has insisted that the band will return and that this new album (coming Sept 2010) is merely the manifestation of a deep desire to keep making music and not break for a while. That said, it's no surprise that great iconic musicians attract the best sort of production. 'Flamingo' has enlisted help from producers including Stuart Price (Madonna, The Killers, Kylie Minogue), Brendan O'Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Train, Pearl Jam), and Daniel Lanios (U2, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson). All of who will be featured performing instrumentation on the album. The album also features a duet with Rilo Kiley's Jenny Lewis.

Introducing Joshua James (Northplatte/Intelligent Noise Recs)
JJ is an American folk/rock musician championed by Paste Magazine and we are pretty fond of his live performances too. After his first album ('The Sun Is Always Brighter') went to no. 1 on the iTunes folk charts in 2007, Paste Magazine named him one of the "Next 25 Artists You Need To Know" (Sept 2008). He then toured supporting artists including John Mayer, David Gray, Brett Dennen and Ani DiFranco.
Most remarkably, JJ has accomplished all of this on his own indie label--which signed last year another artist who later signed with Columbia Records.
In 2009 he released 'Build Me This' which Paste Magazine gave a 9.2/10 rating and dubbed "Phenomenal".

THE TRUE STORY of 'Mrs. Robinson' by Simon & Garfunkel . . .
American Pop Masters Simon and Garfunkel's second no. 1 song in the US following "The Sounds of Silence" is a marvelous one. It is Grammy Award winning and Gold Record status. It pays tribute to history and great Americans.
The secret of Mrs Robinson is that Mike Nichols (Director of the movie 'The Graduate') had become a huge Paul Simon affectionado and he made a deal with Paul Simon to make songs for the film. Unforunately, Simon was so busy he had only found time to write one song which had nothing to do with the film. He reportedly stated: "It's not for the movie... it's a song about times past — about Mrs. Roosevelt and Joe DiMaggio and stuff." Nichols advised Simon, "It's now about Mrs. Robinson, not Mrs. Roosevelt." The song was only partially finished for the movie and then changed before put to record.
Mrs. Roosevelt likely refers to Anna Eleanor Roosevelt (wife to President FDR). She was a heorin Civil Rights activist and endured a marriage wherein her husband committed adultry. She discovered the affair and insisted on a divorce unless he would immediately end the affair (which he did).
The song takes the balming belief in the effects of Jesus' love. This is just one more evidence that songs about God sell.
Joe DiMaggio was an America baseball player for the NY Yankees who became an American star. His 56 game hitting streak in 1941 was dubbed by the NY Times in 1999 "perhaps the most enduring record in sports". DiMaggio enlisted in the US Air Force during WWII amidst his winning streaks. He was also married to Marilyn Monroe.

'America' by Imagine Dragons
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE WEEKEND!
From one of the BEST new bands in ages comes the American anthem of the year.
We love this song because not only does it applaud America but it asks America for help... after all we're the greatest country in the world.
'America' by Imagine Dragons was the taste making Sophie 103.7FM (San Diego)'s Challenge Champion yesterday over 'Listomania' by Phoenix (EMI Records). They are up against Tegan and Sara (Sire Records) this weekend. The song and movie are FREE downloads on the band's myspace in support of the Wounded Warrior Project. http://myspace.com/imaginedragons
Imagine Dragons are widely hailed by music critics as a soon to be worldwide act. They played the BMI Showcase at 2010's SXSW Festival, can be seen frequenting Las Vegas casino venues, and produce some extraordinary live performances. They've also managed to win contests like MIX 94.1 Band Battle for Bite and The Break: Bamboozle Contest 2010.

Why 'Human' by The Killers (Island/Def Jam Recs) is Timeless...
Unlike so much dribble from the music industry lately, Human, posses the quality of being believing. For argument sake, one could juxtapose Maroon 5's most recent song 'Misery' and note that the singer is merely spitting out the same old sound, lyrics, and tricks. In the aptly named 'Misery', the protagonist notes that he has no answers, is "confused" about his relationship, and has no control over his life. Yet, Brandon Flowers' 'Human' professes the bold question if we are as Hunter S Thompson wrote merely "a generation of dancers" or if we are simply human and living our lives the best we can...
There is faith in good living, and in giving "respects to faith and virtue/ send[ing] condolences to good/ giv[ing]...regards to soul and romance".
Furthermore, the artist is not afraid to go "up to the platform of surrender"...to be "kind".
